Literally, crack you up! So it was an exciting morning here at our house. Chris went out to check the chicken coop and found an EGG!!! Our chickens laid their first egg! He left the egg in the coop for the girls to go find when they finally woke up.
They were so excited, and here are some pictures of their first fresh farm egg!
Then as luck would have it, we carefully carried our precious egg back to the house safe and sound. Chris started to make some breakfast, eggs of course! He got out the 2 dozen eggs we had bought at the store last week, since ours weren't laying eggs yet, and here's what happened...
Yep, 2 dozen eggs knocked onto the floor! You gain one egg, you lose 2 dozen! Oh well, it made for a good laugh this morning and a trip to the store later today!
Also today we pulled out all the veggies from the garden, since we live in Maine and there is already frost on the ground by morning. NOT COOL! But, here's our loot...
Yes, that is an actual whole wheel barrow full of fresh veggies! Tomorrow we will be slicing them up and putting them in our freezer. Our new big, deep freezer, which we bought to hold the meat from the cow we bought! Before you starting freaking out, no we did not buy a cow to raise here. We bought a cow from the local farm here in town. They raise their cows completely free of hormones and all the other junk that goes into our food. They butcher it and deliver the goods to us! We've had steak the past 2 nights and it was delicious!!
After I was done working them in the garden, the girls got a special treat from Daddy. One of their favorite things to do, and again you might be a redneck if....
Your kids love to ride around the yard on the tractor for hours!
Well it was a pretty busy day on our little farm, and here's what I found just before bed time.
Little cuddle bug! And this mama is pooped too!
