House projects!

So Chris has been busy getting rid of all the girly paint upstairs to make a room ready for our boy! He was more then willing to paint over the pink and purple room I had decorated. I will post pictures of the new room when it's all done!

We also decided to paint the hallway, which had boring white walls with some flowery wallpaper along the top. The girls got in on the action and loved helping us paint!

Of course, they got bored with painting after awhile and moved on to other things while Mommy and Daddy were distracted with painting. They were being so good and so quiet, I should have known they were up to something.....Riley gave them makeovers!!

And these makeovers required Mommy to break out a bottle of eye makeup remover to get it off. This was the first time I've ever had to use eye makeup remover and it was for my kids!! I'll be sure to post pictures as we finish our projects this week.

Spring to fall

I haven't written in awhile because we've had all kinds of health issues going on here. And health issues require 2 hour drives back and forth to doctor's when you live up here. And, when your 2 year old has a sprained knee and requires you to carry her everywhere, well it doesn't leave a lot of time for blogging!

Almost 2 weeks ago we went to a friends house to play in their bounce house. Taylor was just jumping around like normal, and then all of a sudden started screaming and crying and grabbing her leg rolling around in the bounce house. We took her to the doctor here, who sent us to a different hospital, an hour away, to get an x-ray. The x-ray was fine, nothing broken, but still 2 weeks later it is hurting and she won't walk on it. If it doesn't improve we will have to go see a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, yep, 2 hours away, but it is improving. Today Daddy got her to actually walk on it while holding onto him. I think she is just afraid it's going to hurt at this point, but she should be up and running all over again soon!

Here she is eating her favorite food....fresh corn! She doesn't even like it cooked. We grow this in our garden and she just takes it straight from the garden and eats it! Yum!!

Remember when I said it was spring. I was wrong. We've had a week of chilly temperatures again, and a few rainy days too. Here we are outside in our new sandbox, on what looks like a nice day, but notice the winter hats and coats. Ugh!

We made, I mean asked, Daddy to get us a big tire to use to turn into a sandbox. He gave in. I had plans to spray paint this and make it look cute, but the girls were too excited to wait. And, when we finally made it to the closest Walmart, 1 1/2 hours away, I realized I had forgot my list, and forgot to get spray paint. Next time we go I'll remember my list and make this sandbox much cuter! Either way though, they love it!

And after digging in sand wasn't enough, they went over to our newly tilled garden to help dig some holes. Notice Taylor in the chair because of her bummed knee. Riley told me all the holes she dug and what went into them. She dug a hole for chocolate for our garden. Love that kid!!!

And since we're only expecting a new baby in a few short weeks, we decided to go ahead and do a bunch of home improvement projects! It all started because we need to paint the baby's room. But, we also need new carpet, which is coming in June, so hubby needs to paint before the new carpet gets here! Yes, hubby is painting this time! In addition to that he decided to "just go ahead and paint the kitchen" too. I may have been complaining that I wanted to paint it recently. Not complaining, just mentioning! In addition to that, when we first moved in our house was FULL of wallpaper. We have one section that had so much wallpaper on top of wallpaper that we can't even get it down to the actual wall. So, we decided to buy pine wood for the walls, stain it and hubby will be doing this little house project as well! He took some time off of work to get it all done, and he obviously has a July deadline to complete all projects before baby arrives! I think he can do it! I will supervise and make sure!

Here is Riley helping out with staining the wood. She'll be an excellent helper when it's time to start these projects!

Baby chicks have arrived!

This is the morning that our baby chicks were set to arrive, and this is how Riley stayed all day until we got the phone call to go pick them up!

They were so excited to finally have new baby chicks on the farm!

Taylor kept picking up "her chicks" and giving them all kisses.

And then she spent all afternoon sitting like this watching them and playing with them! First thing in the morning she wants to go check them, and she can't go to bed without saying good night! These girls sure do love baby chicks, and who can blame them?

Farm chores

Look at that, we actually have on shorts and t-shirts! Today we spent the day doing some chores around the farm. First things first, clean out the chicken coop. The girls cut up some apples, and fed them to the chickens.

Then it was time to take the fence down around the garden so we could get the tractor in to overturn the ground before planting this year. The girls helped scoop up dead leaves too.

Once they were bored with scooping dead leaves, they went on to digging holes in the garden, which was fine since we're going to turn it all over anyway!

And this was our surest sign of Spring....it's Bob!! Bob is the groundhog that lives in the barn. He's also the reason we have to fence in our garden. We haven't seen him since last summer, so it must be Spring for sure!

Could it be spring???

We've actually had about 5 nice days in a row now....could it possibly be spring up here? I sure hope so! The girls have been having so much fun outside riding bikes, playing on their swings, going to the park, taking rides in the stroller, using sidewalk chalk on the driveway, and our latest project...making bird houses! We have big bay windows in the living room that the girls love to sit in. There are also a line of trees near one of the windows, and so we hung our bird feeders there so they could hang out and watch the birds! It's been a big hit! Here are some pictures of the project in action.

Riley is pouring the seeds into her feeder.

Taylor is pouring her seeds in.

And here are our finished projects.

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby chicks tomorrow, so I'm sure we'll have some more pictures to post soon!

T's first dentist appointment

Taylor was so excited to be like her big sister and get to go to the dentist! She was so happy, and such a good little patient! The dentist told her she was better then most "big" patients she has! Last time we went Riley got a new toothbrush, and Taylor was kind of jealous! She remembered this time and was so excited to be getting her own! And, on top of it, she got her favorite color toothbrush, GREEN! Who knew going to the dentist could be so fun?

Bird poop and the movies!

We actually had a spring day this week! It was awesome! We rode our bikes outside, then went for a walk to the playground and grabbed some ice cream on the way home! It was a great day.

The only snag was when Taylor got pooped on by a bird while riding her bike. She looks nice and calm in this picture, but this was after quite the meltdown when it happened! I have a very funny video of it happening, but I'm not able to upload it for some reason, bummer too because it is funny!

Today we were in the big city for my check up with the doctor, so we took advantage and went to a movie! It was Taylor's first time and she had a blast. Actually, we all had a blast because we had the whole movie theater to ourselves....that's what happens when you got to a show on a Monday afternoon! Taylor loved running all around the theater and going from the seat all the way in the back, to the seat all the way in the front....over and over and over and over and over again! Good thing we were the only ones in there! She had just been given new sneakers at Easter the light up when she walks, and we do believe that was part of the fascination. They lit up very well in the dark theater.

After the movie we had some shopping to do. We can't go to the big city without stocking up on supplies to bring back home. The girls needed some sunglasses, so here they are looking cool as always!

All was well at our check up, please continue to keep us in your prayers for a healthy baby and delivery....actually please pray that I make it to the hospital, since it's a 2 hour drive and don't have the baby on the side of the road! Thanks in advance for those prayers!
